National Baseball Analyst Joins Scout.com

LOS ANGELES – FOX Sports Interactive and Scout.com have announced the addition of Frankie Piliere as the National Baseball Expert for the Scout.com network. Piliere brings with him a unique blend of experience as a national analyst and a professional scout.

As the National Baseball Expert, Piliere will provide to Scout.com readers a variety of content on both the major and minor leagues, as well as in-depth scouting and analysis of MLB draft prospects. Piliere's first area of focus with Scout.com will be the 2011 MLB Draft. He has personally scouted more than 500 of the top amateur talents eligible for the draft and, over the next few weeks, will release rankings, mock drafts and scouting reports, as well as post-draft analysis.

"At it's core, the focus of the Scout.com business is to provide sports fans with a deeper level of information, and an enhanced fan experience through our content and community discussion," Joel Cox, Executive Director of FOX Sports Interactive, said.

"Frankie fits our model perfectly as his content is ideally suited for the baseball fan who wants a bit more in the way of minor league content, scouting reports, and in-depth evaluations. We are excited to have him back in the Scout family providing value for our subscribers and users."

Piliere most recently served as the National Baseball Analyst for AOL FanHouse. In that role, he provided analysis of all levels of baseball, bringing readers MLB scouting department-quality evaluations of players in the major leagues, the minor leagues and the collegiate ranks.

Before joining AOL FanHouse, Piliere served in the scouting departments for the Cleveland Indians and the Texas Rangers. For Cleveland, Piliere focused his scouting efforts on amateur players in the Northeast Region, as well as prospects in the prestigious Cape Cod League. While with Texas, Piliere's scouting responsibilities expanded to include scouting minor league affiliates for talent acquisition. Piliere's writing has also been featured on FanGraphs and in USA Today. He began his career as a writer and MLB draft analyst for Scout.com.

"Working with FOX Sports and Scout.com gives me the opportunity to continue and expand the type of coverage I strive to do. By putting an emphasis on evaluating prospects using my experience as a scout, I can give fans a different perspective and an idea of how teams look at players," Piliere said.

"I'm very excited to be doing that type of analysis on all levels of the game, from amateurs, to minor league prospects, to the big leagues. It's the perfect place for me to be."

Piliere's work will be found throughout the Scout.com MLB Network. He will be available for regular online chats and will answer questions for subscribers on the individual team sites' premium messageboards.
