Eighth Inning Haunts Iowa Memphis: 12, Iowa: 7
A nine-run eighth inning propelled Memphis to a 12-7 win over the Iowa Cubs. Jeff Beliveau surrendered the first three runs of the eighth inning, without retiring a batter in the inning, then Manuel Corpas (L, 0-2) entered in relief, allowing six more runs to score. Corpas was charged with a blown save and a loss
Dave Sappelt cranked a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth, cutting into the Redbirds' lead, but they would respond with an insurance run in the ninth to seal the victory. Anthony Rizzo led the way for Iowa, tallying three RBIs on two hits. Sappelt and Adrian Cardenas each added two RBIs. The four-game series continues on Sunday.

Smokies Hold Off Chattanooga Tennessee: 4, Chattanooga: 2
Nicholas Struck (W, 2-1) allowed one earned run and four hits in five innings of work, then Jeffry Antigua (H, 1) and Marcus Hatley (S, 1) shut down the Lookouts in the final four innings, securing a 4-2 win for Tennessee.
Ty Wright drove in a pair of runs with a two-out single, while Rebel Ridling also knocked in a two-out RBI single. The timely hitting brought Tennessee over the .500 mark.

Daytona Cruises By Tampa Daytona: 13, Tampa: 2
Daytona posted 13 runs -- 12 unanswered -- on 17 hits and cruised by Tampa for a 13-2 win. The Cubs' 2-through-6 hitters combined for 11 RBIs. Nelson Perez cracked a three-run home run, one of his three hits on the game. Cleanup hitter Greg Rohan posted three RBIs on two hits.
Former Northwestern star Eric Jokisch (W, 1-2) earned his first win of the season, working 5.2 innings and allowing just two earned runs. Larry Suarez and Joseph Zeller worked 3.1 scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit.

Great Lakes Sweeps Peoria Great Lakes: 2, Peoria: 1
The Peoria Chiefs left seven runners on base and finished 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The lack of timely hitting cost the Chiefs in a 2-1 loss, a sweep by the Great Lakes Loons.
Michael Jensen (L, 3-1) delivered another strong outing. surrendering just two runs and two hits over seven innings of work, but was tagged with the loss as the team could not give run support. Paul Hoilman knocked in Peoria's only RBI on a two-out, two-run double.
