Zack Segovia pitched all six innings in a rain-shortened game, giving up five earned runs. Before the rain came, the SeaWolves were smacking the ball. John Murrian went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored. Niuman Romero went 2-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored. Michael Rockett went 1-for-4 with three RBIs.

Dixon Machado’s two-out, two-RBI single gave Lakeland an 8-6 lead in the bottom of the eighth and the Flying Tigers held on for the win. Machado’s single followed a two-RBI single from Luis Castillo, which tied the game at six. Machado went 3-for-5 with a double. Castillo went 1-for-5. Brian Flynn got the start and gave up five runs (four earned) on 11 hits over four innings. Matt Little pitched the final two innings to earn the win.

In the first game of a doubleheader, Kyle Ryan gave up a walk-off homer to the first batter he faced in the seventh. Ryan pitched the entire game, giving up three earned runs on eight hits. Curt Casali went 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Three of West Michigan’s four hits were for extra bases. Patrick Leyland went 1-for-3 with a double, while Eugenio Suarez went 1-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored.

In the second game, Leyland hit a three-run homer as West Michigan jumped out to an 8-0 lead. Leyland went 2-for-4. Eugenio Suarez went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored. Former MSU Spartan Jeff Holm went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in his season-debut. Warwick Saupold gave up one earned run over 2 2/3 innings in the start. Nicholas Avila relieved Saupold, giving up three earned runs in 2 1/3 innings, but picked up the win. Daniel Bennett pitched a perfect 1 1/3 innings to earn the save.
