Cardinals 2012 AFL interviews: Mike O'Neill

O'Neill: 2012 FSL batting champion

In our continuing series of interviews with St. Louis Cardinals prospects competing in the Arizona Fall League, we speak with outfielder Mike O'Neill.

Outfielder Mike O'Neill had a fantastic 2012 season that is continuing in the Arizona Fall League. Earlier, the 24-year-old won the Florida State League batting title with a .342 average. He added another 100 points of on-base percentage on top of it.

O'Neill
O'Neill was an FSL mid-season and post-season all-star and amazingly hit even better the final three weeks of the regular season upon his promotion to Double-A Springfield. The outfielder then helped lead his new club to the Texas League title.

I spoke with O'Neill about his great year, including the rare feat of winning back-to-back Player of the Month awards across the entire Cardinals system – in July and August.
