Class Overview

The area had nine notable prep players turn pro from last year's class: 1st rounder Washington C Reese McGuire/Pirates, 2nd rounder California CF Jordan Paroubeck/Padres, 3rd rounder California RHP Carlos Salazar/Braves, 4th round Hawaiian 2B Kean Wong/Rays and then a number of later round over-slot signings, including 2nd round money for three NorCal players--6th rounder C Dom Nunez/Rockies, 11th rounder RHP Steve Farinaro/Cardinals, 30th rounder 1B Rowdy Tellez/Blue Jays-- and 3rd round money for two more players, 7th rounder Washington RHP Dustin Driver/A's and 31st rounder California C John Riley/Giants. One notable prep talent made it to campus, Marlins unsigned sandwich rounder LHP Matt Krook/Oregon, who could easily go in the top half of the first round with a strong college showing. This year's class is a banner crop for the area, much better at the top (mainly due to three clear first rounders in NorCal) and is just as deep.

Recruiting Overview

Oregon State and Stanford are the traditional powers in this area but since the Cardinal recruits nationally, it doesn't have to scoop up every local talent. The Beavers clearly did very well on this list and should get some quality talent on campus, including a couple more players that were late cuts. Oregon is a rising power with their new and well-funded program but also doesn't purely rely on this area, having top recruits come up on the previous SoCal and Rockies lists.
